Ruby's eating food!

Since she went for her 4 month appointment at the doctor - measuring in at 15 pounds and 24.5 inches (same weight as me at that age, just half an inch shorter) - Ruby has been eating solid food. The first time Mama and Dada gave her banana I thought it was the most hilarious thing. Now she eats pear, avocado and sweet potato too. She seems to really like it. As long as she doesn't try to eat my treats, I'm cool with it.

My big boy bed

Since Saturday I have been sleeping in my big boy bed! It was in my room for a week before I actually go the nerve to SLEEP in it (we had been "reading and relaxing" in it, and I had been testing the springs by jumping up and down on it). But it is super cozy, and I love my flannel sheets with the moose on them.
On Friday I decided not to nap, much to Mama's dismay, so on Saturday I was super tired come late morning, especially after eating 3 giant pancakes with syrup and 3 slices of bacon and several spoonfuls of Mama's yogurt for breakfast at the Belvedere Market. So I fell asleep while Mama was reading "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" to me. I spotted a picture of a little boy in a bed in the book and I pointed to it and said "he is sleeping in a big boy bed, just like me" then I took my blanket and turned away from the book. Mama got all my little stuffed animal friends that were in my crib - Frank the dog, Vladimir the crocodile, La Roux the kangaroo, and the Texas lion - and put them in the bed with us. I fell asleep before she could finish the book. I got a great 3 and a half hours of delicious slumber, then when I woke up I realized I could just go downstairs instead of waiting for someone to come get me! So I got out, opened the door and shouted out "I'm heee-reee!" I could hear Mama and Dada laughing downstairs, and they yelled up for me to come down so I did. They gave me lots of hugs and told me how proud they were of me. It was pretty cool. So now I'm sleeping in the bed every time! They said next I am going to have to start using the potty. I don't think so.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we went to grandma and g-pa's house. Mama and Dada were worried about the drive because Ruby doesn't like to ride in the car. I often have to tell her "It's okAY Rubes!" or "No crying in the car, Rubes!" or "Almost home, Rubes!" to try to make her feel better. The ride was fine for me - I had my binky, and my ipod and my snacks. On long drives like that I like to toggle between episodes of Curious George and Sesame Street and music videos and to play games. Mama also has the movies Car on her phone in case of "emergencies". It was also nice that Mama sat with Ruby and I in the back for some of the ride, and that made Ruby feel better - and it was good to have someone back there to hand me my various snacks whenever I wanted.

There were lots of people there for Thanksgiving - I know I met them last year but I was still a bit shy around everyone at first. I had fun playing with Great Grandma - when I woke up from my nap she was the first person I asked about. I spent a lot of time in g-pa's basement looking for cows - I think there were three of them down there, but I could never find them. We also played a lot of football outside.
